About Me: Why I Became a Certified Coach
About 30 years ago, I started my career in Human Resources. While I truly loved my career, over time, society made some pretty monumental changes. In the 80’s, we had typewriters and white-out. The 90’s brought forward the use of the PC and email, which made working in an office a bit more efficient. Efficiency brought broader workloads. We could communicate more effectively, so what once took hours, could now be completed instantly. We still had to fill those 9-5 hours.
In the early 2000’s, video conferencing entered the workplace. For those that traveled for work, this meant travel could be reduced as meeting in person was no longer a priority. Workloads again expanded, as more time could be spent in the office rather than on a flight.
With all of the technological advances and instant communication abilities, companies began to prioritize security of assets. By the mid 2010’s, politics entered into the workforce-further dividing the line between “blue collar” and “white collar”. Corporations became so guarded of their assets, that the “human” part of the resources seemed to dwindle.
When COVID hit, everything went into complete chaos. We were “lucky” to have all of the technological advancements in place so that many could work remotely, however, that wasn’t a possibility for all. And even so, corporations were still demanding full work days, despite fear of the unknown across the globe.
Once we started “getting back to normal”, I began to feel the need to provide a voice for the workers. Was anyone listening to their needs? Think about your own life. Who has REALLY listened to YOU?
So that’s when I made the choice. Like I said, I loved working in HR, but something was missing. I wanted to be able to bridge the gap between the corporation and the employees. I wanted to advocate for the people that worked, as they are truly the real assets to any successful company. I want to help the person who is burned out and ready for a change. I want to help the CEO rally his staff to bring them to the next level. I want to help those who are ready to level-up but have no idea what to do next.
So that is why I have chosen to be a professional and personal coach. I want to help you “bee moved” to become the person you deserve to be.
